Okay, now that I have gotten your attention…
What does one do when one is asked to help a client market a product/service that is unconventional and completely counterintuitive? Well, that is exactly what happened to me a couple of months ago. Through familial connections, I hooked up with my mum’s cousin to help her get going on a new venture, one that can be categorized as “alternative”. When I met with Lorella Zanetti, back in January. I was perfectly happy to help her sort her website out and plan a social marketing campaign, but all I knew that she was a Certified Quantum Biofeedback Technician, and that she had integrated her treatments into a (what appeared to me at the time) crazy weight-loss programme designed in the 1950s by Dr. Simeon in Italy.
My parents have both received ongoing Quantum Biofeedback treatments and felt they had been valuable in reducing their stress overall and giving them a sense of well-being. And since I had put on a considerable amount of weight since my running accident, I was intrigued. So Lorella and I decided to trade services and I would get the weight-loss programme in exchange for my services. I figured if my stress was reduced even somewhat, that would be benefit enough, and if I was able to take off a few pounds, well that would be, um, imaginary gravy.
The diet is a version of the Hormone Diets that have been recently popularized, and it is pretty much the first weird diet that I have tried. So, there is a pre-phase and then 3 phases to 1 round of this diet. And today, I have completed 1 round, and am currently in phase 2 of round 3 so I will have to catch you up. The is a pre-phase is optional, and does not require repeating between courses.
The pre-phase is designed to detox and get your body off of sugar, rebalance the intestinal flora, and basically prep the body for serious denial. There are a variety of supplements and enzymes to take, including hot water with the juice of 1/2 lemon every morning.
The phase 1 is my favourite, which has most likely been a contributing factor to why I am here now. I get to “gorge” (their word) on whatever I want for 2 days, while taking the homeopathic hormones (orally, NOT injections).
Phase 3 is the calorie restrictive diet. Basically, I continue on with the hormones and
enzymes, and eat 500 calories per day of very specific food. It is boring as heck, and a bit complicated when it comes to socializing, but the results are quick and dirty.
I will continue to chronicle my experiences and we will see how and if I am able to come to terms with helping someone to market a product/service that could be considered quite radical and is currently controversial.
